Bill Cohron (now PHP) when he was DieselPower helped make my 97 7.3 the second one in Northern California to hit 400hp back in 2003 with a stock turbo.  The other one was Bill George's SD 7.3 using slightly larger injectors (H-max Stage IIs).   I use DP-Tuner now though.

My chip finally showed up,, set it to the 140hp setting and thats what i got dynoed my truck back to the 320 area where i started. atleast l know what tune i have. in the middle of doing my idm mod, too bad when i took the lid off my idm found that they glued a capasitor to the lid and that got pulled out. so as soon as i get time to stop at frys i will do the idm mod to try out.

Goggle "Guzzle's powerstroke index page".  This site has several articles on making a SD run better including adding a Carter 4070 low pressure fuel pump as a pusher pump into the stock electric pump.  Good reading for the Ford SD owner.
