In the past I've installed the Garrett GTP38R's on a few different trucks. Direct bolt on a stock appearing when it comes time to smog it.

 I'm sure Howard will see this and fill you in on some other turbo options.

I have a smog guy that passes me but the gt38r is a top end turbo, I want fast spool up time, that turbo has a 1in compressor.

for the 7.3, the H2e or the H2e modified will work good for you......all my buddies with ford 7.3 have the modifieds and lay down great numbers with quick spool.....

The Garrett GTP-38r is a bolt-in,  the H2e needs an install kit.  That might influence your turbo selection, but its only money...;)  What's your end goal as far as horsepower is concerned?

im looking for 500 but my motor has 230,000 miles and i just did a compression test and im at 350 psi in all cylinders..when motor does give, im doing a mean 7.3 rebuild and a set of twins!!!

you mean like this motor....my buddy just finished it and its in the truck now,,,,h2e modified, stage II inj, dual pumps, intercooler, bts trans and more...pushing 500+
studes, rods, heads and 120,000 miles and strong as heck..

that is correct the garret is a bolt in..... for your set up it would work but if you want more poer then an h2e is good.... maybe not the modified cause you might not have enough fuel to spool it...yet...

That sure looks like a WOP motor...(wide open performance) but yes I will need a steady spool up.... What's the boost that he will be runing out of that h2e
